From November 17th to 21st 2015, Fondazione Ismu ran a training workshop addressed to museum operators and young filmmakers within the framework of the European project YEAD! – Young European (Cultural) Audience Development (2015-2019). The YEAD! project’s first year (2015-2016), jointly run by Fondazione Ismu (IT) and AlterNatives (FR), is devoted to Universal Access to Culture; its key goal is to provide European museum professionals and young filmmakers with the skills, competences and know-how needed to reach cross-cultural audiences, with a particular focus on underrepresented groups and individuals (mostly youths with a native and migrant background). The museum and heritage institutions involved are: MUDEC – Museum of Cultures (Milan); MUST – Museum of Vimercate’s Territory (Vimercate); “Adriano Bernareggi” Museum of religious art (Bergamo); Centre des Monuments Nationaux (Paris); Musée national des arts asiatiques – “Guimet” (Paris); Musée d’Angoulême (Angoulême). The training will feed into the forthcoming phases for 2016, i.e. the planning, implementation and dissemination of pilot projects actively involving young people in rethinking the museum’s heritage in an intercultural perspective also through the production of videos. The workshop was hosted by the brand-new Museum of Cultures in Milan, as well as by the National Cinema Museum and the Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation for contemporary art in Turin.
