NIEM – Misuring and improving integration of beneficiaries of international protection
The project aims to mainstream an integration evaluation mechanism into the integration policies for refugees and beneficiaries of international protection at the national level.
Different geographic regions are interested by the project activities: Bulgaria, Belgium, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden. This choice follows the European Commission’s will concerning the need to develop clear goals, indicators and evaluation mechanisms to adjust policy, evaluate progress on integration and to make the exchange of information more effective. Thus, indicators are identified and tool is created to gather information, highlight gaps and provide information on measure progress in relation to refugee integration in the areas of housing, employment, family reunification, long-life learning and education, citizenship, health care and political participation of asylum seekers and refugees.
The created mechanism will provide MS and the EU with a tool for assessing specific gaps in the various dimensions of integration and to provide evidence-based solutions. Authorities will be also supported in improvement of integration policies, their implementation and the establishment of real integration prospects for asylum seekers and refugees.
